Balanced Category

Investments under this category must be held for a period of five years. Investors are required to spend at least 105 days in New Zealand over this five-year period; however, this residency requirement may be reduced if a higher investment amount is made.

Procedures for New Zealand residence by investment To apply, applicants must submit completed application forms, accompanied by the requisite fees and supporting documentation. Eligibility for permanent residence is granted upon fulfilling both the prescribed investment tenure - three years for the Growth category or five years for the Balanced category - and the stipulated physical presence requirements. Should families be included in the resident visa application, their entry into New Zealand is mandated within 12 months of the visa's issuance. There is no subsequent minimum duration for their stay in the country. A visa holder is authorised to reside anywhere in New Zealand and may enroll as a domestic student at all educational institutions and tertiary providers nationwide. For the acquisition of residential real estate, visa holders are required to be "usually resident" in New Zealand. Consequently, those who only satisfy the minimum physical presence days will likely need to obtain prior approval for property purchases. This specific requirement is waived once the individual has resided in New Zealand and been physically present in the country for a minimum of 183 days within the preceding 12 months, thereby establishing tax residency. Successful applicants are eligible to apply for New Zealand citizenship after a period of five years of residence.
