New Zealand launched the Active Investor Plus Visa in September 2022, succeeding its previous investor visa programs. This visa aims to attract high-net-worth individuals and stimulate economic growth. Successful applicants gain permanent residency, enabling them to live, work, and study in New Zealand, provided they fulfill all investment and residency requirements.

Procedures for New Zealand residence by investmentThe application process requires completed forms, applicable fees, and supporting documentation. Investments, made over three years and maintained for a fourth, qualify applicants for permanent residency after four years, provided minimum time spent in New Zealand is met. Following this, residents can sponsor their parents' applications under the Parent Retirement category. Family members included in the resident visa must arrive in New Zealand within 12 months of visa issuance; however, no minimum stay is required. Those aged 16 and over must meet English language proficiency standards, or pre-purchase ESOL tuition for completion in New Zealand. Visa holders can reside anywhere in New Zealand and study domestically. Residential real estate purchase requires usual residency; however, those meeting minimum stay requirements may need approval. This requirement is waived after 183 days of physical presence within the preceding 12 months and tax residency status. Citizenship follows five years of residency after successful visa application.
